| Grant M. Kornman Prior to founding Flagstone Holdings LLC, Mr. Kornman was an Associate at Sterling Capital, Ltd. Sterling has a diverse, private-equity portfolio that includes real estate, early-stage technology investments and operating companies such as Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLVN). Mr. Kornman was recruited by Sterling in 1998 to help form the firm's $150 million venture capital fund and its investment strategy. His responsibilities included identifying and evaluating venture capital investments as well as advising portfolio companies on corporate strategy and capital budgeting. Mr. Kornman evaluated hundreds of investment opportunities and was principally involved in the structuring and negotiation of many of Sterling's venture capital investments. Prior to Sterling, Mr. Kornman was an active entrepreneur in the enterprise software industry. He was promoted to the senior management team of Isadra, a fast growing enterprise software company that was acquired by VerticalNet (NASDAQ: VERT). Mr. Kornman contributed to Isadra's overall business strategy and focused on business development and marketing. Mr. Kornman holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business.
Tom Lewis Jr. Tom Lewis Jr. co-founded Flagstone Holdings LLC following multiple partnerships in real estate contracting and development in the southeast United States and around the world. As a representative at Colliers, a global real estate services firm, Mr. Lewis specialized in real estate in Eastern Europe and facilitated the company's expansion in that area. During his tenure at Colliers, Mr. Lewis opened offices in Kiev, Moscow and St. Petersburg and hired and trained initial brokers and required staff. In 1999, Mr. Lewis joined Lewis Property Investors to resolve conflict in the construction of the firm's high-end condominium development project in Ocean Reef, Fla. As the owner representative for general contracting, Mr. Lewis led negotiations between the contracting and development teams until the project was successfully completed. Mr. Lewis is an active board member of the Dubose Foundation in Atlanta. The foundation is dedicated to improving secondary education in the Atlanta area, and its grants helped found the Wesleyan Day School. Mr. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Georgia.
